BIMB-WA – Poor Performance as Mother Share gains via dividend

The company warrant of BIMB Holdings Berhad (BIMB-WA) has been a big disappointment for its holders since it made its debut on Bursa Malaysia at the end of 2013.  After surging to as high as 90.5 sen a few days after it was initially listed, BIMB-WA effectively went into a multi-year decline losing almost 80 percent of its value from its high.  This is despite the mother share staying around the same level as a few years ago when the warrant was first traded.  As at the close of 11 June, BIMB mother shares was last traded at RM4.05 while BIMB-WA closed at 23.5 sen.

BAHVEST-WA – No Longer Attractive as Leverage Instrument

The warrant of Borneo Aqua Harvest Berhad (BAHVEST-WA), which made its debut on Bursa Malaysia on 25 August 2017, has been one of the best performing securities in Bursa Malaysia over the last one year.  From the first day closing of 21 sen, BAHVEST-WA has surged more than 340% to close at 92 sen on 5 June 2018.  The mother share rose close to 91% during the same period from 65.5 sen to RM1.25.

AKNIGHT - WB: Huge issuances may cap upside

The share price of PN17 company Asia Knight Berhad dropped recently upon the company’s completion of a rights issue with warrants. The mother share of Asia Knight fell from as high as 25 sen on 20 April 2018 to its current value of 9 sen within a span of a little more than a month.  AKNIGHT-WB, the new company warrant which was attached free with the rights issue on a one for two basis, traded within a narrow band of 4 sen to 5 sen since it made its debut on 21 May 2018.

THRIVEN-WB: Volatile Journey

The securities of Thriven Global Berhad, whose major shareholder is Fakhri Yassin Bin Mahiaddin, the son of Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin surged several folds and retraced substantially after Pakatan Harapan won the general election.  From under 20 sen in early May, Thriven Global share price rose to as high as 65 sen on the back of the initial euphoria after the general election.  However, it has retraced significantly since and closed at 37 sen on 22 May 2018.  The company warrant, THRIVEN-WB experienced an even more volatile journey rising from 4 sen to as high as 36.5 sen before settling to close at 15.5 sen on 22 May.

EDUSPEC-WA: Volatility Surge Post General Election

The securities of Eduspec Holdings Berhad were heavily traded on 15 May 2018 as traders focused plays on counters linked to personalities associated with the leadership of Pakatan Harapan who emerged as the victor in the recently concluded General Election.  Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir’s Kencana Capital Sdn Bhd is one of the top shareholders in Eduspec with a stake of 3.7%.  The mother share of Eduspec surged as much as 90% on 15 May to 18 sen before closing at 12.5 sen for a rise of 32%.  The volume traded was a staggering 116.2 million shares.  The out-of-money company warrant of Eduspec, EDUSPEC-WA closed 20% higher at 3 sen on the same day.
